Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Therapy is a collaborative process where we work together to focus on what feels most important to you. We’ll take time to get curious about what you’re hoping for and shape intentions and goals that feel right for you and for this space.

Our sessions often blend conversation with somatic work, helping you tune into how your body communicates and holds onto emotion. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive, checking in along the way to make sure our work continues to feel aligned with what you want and need.

  • It’s completely normal to wonder if therapy is the right step. You don’t have to be in crisis or have everything figured out to start. Therapy can be helpful if you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or simply wanting support to grow and heal. Think of it as a space that’s just for you — to slow down, sort through what’s on your heart and mind, and explore new ways of relating to yourself and others. If you’re curious, even a little, that curiosity is often a sign that therapy could be supportive.

  • Our first session is really about connection. It’s a chance for us to get to know each other and talk about what brought you here. We’ll explore some of the experiences that have shaped the person you are today and the challenges that you encounter. I’ll also walk you through a few simple logistics, and together we’ll start imagining what our work could look like — setting intentions and goals at a pace that feels right for you.

  • Sessions are typically 50-55 minutes long — just under an hour that’s set aside completely for you.

  • In the beginning, I recommend weekly sessions so we can build trust and create some steady momentum together. As time goes on, we may shift to meeting every other week or less often, depending on what feels most supportive for you. We’ll check in along the way to make sure the pace continues to fit your needs.

  • There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer — it really depends on what you’re hoping to work on and the kind of support you’re looking for. Some people come for a few months to focus on something specific, while others choose to stay longer as they continue to grow and deepen their healing. We’ll check in together along the way so the length of therapy feels aligned with your needs and goals.

  • You can reach out through my contact form below. From there, we’ll schedule a brief consultation call. It’s an opportunity to connect, ask questions, and see if working together feels like the right fit.

  • I am currently in network with Aetna and United. At this time, I am out-of-network with all other insurance companies. I am happy to provide you with a monthly superbill (an itemized receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Every plan is different, so it can be helpful to check with your provider about what they cover.

  • Individual therapy sessions are usually available Mondays through Thursdays from 9am - 6pm, PST. Individual pilates sessions are usually available on Fridays from 9am-3pm. I occasionally offer appointments at other times so please ask if needed!

  • I’m based in San Diego and offer secure online therapy for clients across California and Washington, D.C. This means you can meet with me from the comfort of your own space, whether you’re nearby or further away.

  • I currently offer all my sessions online via Simple Practice. You will be sent a secure link to click on 24 hours and 10 minutes before your appointment time.

  • I am currently accepting new clientele. Please reach out if you’re interested in booking!

  • My fees are set in alignment with my expertise, years of experience and my specialized postgraduate training. The fee includes the time we spend together in session, as well as time spent outside of your session planning your treatment/support, keeping progress notes and accessing clinical supervision and support.

I reserve a limited number of openings in my schedule to offer reduced fee sessions, dependent on household income. When possible, I will work with you to find a way for therapy to be financially sustainable. Please contact me to discuss these options more if needed!

Alternatively, I acknowledge that therapy can be a significant investment, and understand that finances may be a barrier to accessing mental health support. In such cases, I recommend reaching out to resources such as Lotus Therapy Fund (a fund that removes barriers for Asian adults in need of therapy), and Open Path Collective (affordable therapy ranging from $40-$70 per session). Sessions are typically 50-55 minutes long — just under an hour that’s set aside completely for you.

  • You may cancel an appointment without charge if you provide at least 24 hours of notice, based on normal business hours. For example, if your appointment is on Monday at 12pm, please cancel by the previous Friday at 12pm. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the appointment will be charged at the full rate.
